Susan Marra brings over thirty years of experience in virtually all aspects of real estate, business transactions, and trusts and estates law.  She has built her reputation as a trusted counselor by providing legal advice and practical solutions to address her clients’ personal and business objectives.

Susan routinely represents real estate investors, developers, lenders, and buyers in all types of real estate transactions from simple to complex, including contract drafting and negotiation, acquisitions, sales, financing, workouts, assignments, like-kind exchanges, zoning, and land use issues.  Susan’s clients include regional banks and other institutional lenders, businesses of all sizes, professionals, brokers, builders, developers, and individual landowners.  Susan also has extensive experience with commercial leases. She regularly negotiates, drafts and reviews commercial leases on behalf of both landlords and tenants with respect to leases of all types, including leases for retail space, professional offices, apartments, industrial parks, mixed-use properties, shopping centers, and multi-family dwellings.

Susan is well-versed in the specialized area of condominium and planned real estate development law, including the conversion of rental properties to the condominium form of ownership, residential and commercial condominiums, and the registration of planned real estate developments with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs. She has also acted as general counsel to the boards of condominium associations assisting them with day-to-day issues and policies.

Susan serves as general counsel to many corporate clients who rely on her for general business advice, including business planning, choice of entity decisions, corporate governance, shareholder agreements, business purchases and sales, and entity reorganizations.

In addition to her real estate, corporate and transactional practice, Susan also assists clients with their estate planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney and advance directives for healthcare.  She also handles the administration of estates and counsels fiduciaries on their duties.  Susan has been appointed by the Superior Court of New Jersey as legal counsel for alleged incompetents in guardianship proceedings.
